Board Member Job description:
Title: LC4YF Board Member
Reports To: Board Chair
Term: 3 years, renewable up to 5x
Commitment: ~2-4 hours/month
As a Board Member of Lakes Center for Youth and Families, you play a vital role in guiding the vision, strategy, and sustainability of our organization. Board members are not only ambassadors of our mission—they are active participants in governance, advocacy, and resource development. Through leadership, oversight, and community connection, board members help ensure Lakes Center continues to meet the evolving needs of youth and families in Forest Lake, Chisago County, and the surrounding area.
Responsibilities
Attend 8 of the 12 regular board meetings and prepare in advance. Monthly meetings will be held virtually, with one in-person meeting each quarter. Attendance at in-person meetings is strongly encouraged.
Serve on at least one committee

Charitable Gaming (monthly)
Development (monthly)
Board Development (quarterly)
Financial Oversight (quarterly)
Make a personally meaningful monthly or annual financial contribution
Attend at least one signature event annually.
It is highly recommended that board members attend all signature events and community engagement events to demonstrate support, foster visibility, and strengthen community connections.
Participate in fundraising and community outreach efforts
Provide strategic leadership and sound judgment
Act as a positive ambassador for Lakes Center
Partner respectfully with staff; avoid micromanagement
