A message from Rick Peterson, Board Chair, Lakes Center for Youth and Families:

Lakes Center for Youth and Families has been privileged with having an exemplary Board of Directors over our 45 years in the community. From community members, to police chiefs, professionals in fields where expertise is needed, sheriffs, and many more.

We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and send a sincere thank you to some of our board members who have been pivotal in our success for numerous years and will be stepping down from the board or transitioning to a new position.

Brian Mueller
Chief of Police, Stillwater Police Department
Brian has served on our board for 10 years, including the executive board for the past 5. Brian’s knowledge, expertise, and experience challenged the organization to consider new ways of doing things while always open to discuss and listen to others point of view. Brian has been a huge advocate for Lakes Center, whether as the Chief Deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, as the Chief of Police with the Stillwater Police Department, or just a friend to the organization.

Bea Zaruba
First State Bank of Wyoming, Current Bank Board Director and Retired Bank Officer
Bea has served on the board for over 20 years, in addition to volunteering for numerous programs and Lakes Center. During her tenure on the board, Bea has chaired many special projects with Lakes Center, including the largest capital campaign over the past 45 years for our current office space. Bea has been a voice of reason for us all. She always speaks up like a true leader, when others may be uncomfortable to do so.

Jim Schoppenhorst
Retired Business Executive
Jim served as our Chair Person for 4+ years. He started with Lakes Center 20 years ago as a volunteer, including being a mentor for a youth for numerous years. He came into his role with an “all in attitude” that cannot be rivaled by anyone. Even through some of the most difficult times, he never took his finger off of the pulse of the organization. We are grateful he will remain on the board as the immediate Past Chair. I am proud to have him sit next to me and assist me during my tenure as the new Chair Person.

We would also like to take a moment to welcome new board members! Stay tuned to learn more.
